Flatirons Literary Review

The Flatirons Literary Review is a Boulder, Colorado, purveyor of perfectly ripened, fresh-picked, locally-grown writing. We select the finest Colorado authors in many genres, to ensure a varied literary diet rich with regional flavors.
Our sustainable practices provide a place where new writers can flourish alongside established varieties. We are dedicated to expanding our heirloom selections.
We publish fiction, flash fiction, personal essays, humor, and poetry. We also publish reviews of books by Colorado authors and interviews with Colorado authors.
Submission Guidelines
All submissions should be entered into Submittable with your last name, the title of your piece, and the category separated by dashes in the Title section of your submission.
i.e. Welsh/ Stepping Up/ Fiction
Be sure to include a short (100 to 200 word) third person autobiography with your submission so that we can grant you the attention you deserve! If your submission is accepted, we will ask you to provide a photo. This autobiography should be provided in the Cover Letter section, along with a brief introduction to your piece. Make sure your connection to Colorado or Boulder Writers' Workshop is clear.
Submissions may take time to review. You will always receive notification from us no matter what, so if you haven’t heard from us, don’t give up hope!

We accept simultaneous submissions. Please inform us immediately if your work is published elsewhere.
*Special Note: Just because we publish locally and will make every effort to consider your work, simply living within spitting distance of Chautauqua does not make you a shoe in. We do give special consideration to the members of the Boulder Writers’ Workshop and you will get higher on the list if you volunteer to read manuscripts, update calendars, host a speaker, or plan our holiday party. If you have a piece that might fit, but you have a few more drafts to go, you’ll be asked to rewrite–with no guarantees–if you submit and it’s rejected. Lucky for you, the Boulder Writers’ Workshop has a top-notch critique studio. So, if you’ve been sitting on a piece that needs to be rewritten, I’d suggest you sign up for a slot.
